About Model C Steinway & Sons Grand PianosThe Steinway Model C was listed in Steinway's catalog through 1905 and was said to be discontinued in 1913; it was made or sold on special order as late as 1936 in New York.
Since all Model C's were manufactured during the "golden era of Steinway production", they are all magnificent instruments.
The Model
C
is rare to find and has its own unique character of tone.
The Model C (7' 5") was scaled down from the Model D
but larger than the Model B.
The Model C is suitable for small and mid-sized concert stages, living rooms or music rooms.
About this Model C Steinway & Sons Grand Piano
This Model C (Serial Number: C59611) was rebuilt for pianist Harvey Levan Cliburn around 1958. At that time accelerated action was added, a new sound board installed, tuning pegs were changed and upgrade made to hold the tune belt. Jackson Piano Service always commented on how well it holds the tune.
Jackson Piano Service, out of Southern California has been the sole provider of service and tuning for this piano over the past 25 years.
This piano has been in the family since it was purchased in 1962 in Louisville, KY.
It was moved to a family home in Marysville, Kansas in 1985 and then to California in 1986.
In July 2017 it was refurbished. The updates include:
1. New keyboard pads
2. Rods were cleaned
3. Pedals were firmed
4. The finish was restored
