ITEM:   Antique Staffordshire Spatterware Cup & Saucer (Green)
DESIGN:   Peafowl
COLOR:   Green with Peafowl which is blue, green and currant shade of red
SIZE:   Cup 3 3/4" across     Saucer 5 7/8" across
WHERE FOUND:   Reading, Pennsylvania
CONDITION:   CUP:  Cup has crazing inside and out. There are no cracks or splinters.  Cup has a nice sounding ring when lightly tapped.
There is a slight defect along the rim (as seen in photo) however it does not appear to be a repair in my opinion as
the glazing is continuous at this spot with the appearance of crazing on the interior of this spot.  The bottom interior
of the cup has a design (seen in photo).  The bottom exterior edge has a tiny chip (seen in photo).  There is a
maker's mark on the bottom of the cup.  The peafowl breast is color blue and I'm not sure if this was later applied,
as there is no glaze over the blue (see photo). Otherwise, a very nice colorful display piece with its saucer.
SAUCER:   No visible crazing.  There are no cracks or splinters.  Saucer has a nice sounding ring when lightly tapped.
There is a maker's mark impressed onto the bottom.  There is a tiny chip on the outer edge (seen in photo).
The peafowl seems to have a slight glaze imperfection on the blue breast.  A nice display item with its saucer.
