ERARD CONCERT GRAND PIANO - PARIS 1843 Chopin Liszt Era Rare Parisian Seven Octave Instrument Length: 245cm ( i.e. 8' ) Serial No. 16171
This extremely rare 1843 Parisian instrument is one of the very earliest pianos known to have featured a full seven octave keyboard and dates from the height of the romantic era, a time when Franz Liszt preferred the Erard above all other pianos. Even Chopin claimed it was much easier to achieve his desired tone when he played an Erard.
This magnificent gold medal awarded instrument was showcased at the Universal Exposition held in London in 1851 and again at the Universal Exposition held in Paris in 1855. This unique piano was therefore likely destined for a major Parisian concert hall or one of the very grandest of Parisian society homes. Given these facts, there is every possibility that some of the greatest pianists of the era performed on this instrument.
This instrument is being offered for sale on multiple platforms and therefore its availability is subject to prior sale.
