Description
Baldwin 1960 Model D concert grand piano. This was one of the original stage pianos from ASU and has a great history to it.Plays extremely well, it has a complete new lyre assembly (original Baldwin) not aftermarket and special built to order precision casters with vulcanized neoprene over the brass so you can roll the piano on any floor without damaging the floor. They cost 00.00 far better than a spider dolly. You can literally push a 1248# Grand Piano with one finger.
Baldwin pianos are preferred by jazz and blues players versus Steinways because of their full deep throaty sound. Steinways have a bright crisp sound. Preferred by most classical musicians.
Baldwins took great pride in building their pianos. They would start will select old growth trees, harvest cut, and kiln dry them. Then warehouse the wood for 10 years before hand selecting them by the grain pattern to assure the best quality sound. Hand finished with lacquer paint, voiced then tuned, Allow them to sit in a climate-controlled environment, then retune after 30 days by master technicians.
The original plant was in Truman Arkansas, but sadly Baldwin was purchase by a company overseas and the manufacturing facility was also moved. Needless to say, the quality and integrity of these amazing instruments were never the same.
The sound board is original and so is the finish it has no critical issues and plays extremely well, it has a very light touch and an amazing action. I will assist in coordinating shipping, it is currently set up, tuned and ready to play for any one of interest.
This is my personal piano and not one I purchased to re-sell for a profit, I moved it all the way from Arizona to Minnesota for my recording studio.
We have moved the piano out to our climate controled garage with a heated floor and air conditioning for easy moving. The piano board, dolly, straps are also there for transportation.
We have also just had a complete evaluation done on the Baldwin by a proffesional from Ackerman's piano company, and also had it tuned. It really would be best for serious buyers to actually cone and play it.
But still happy to answere any and all questions, by phone or email.
