Description

Wonderful to find  4 Antique Red Transferware  Plates, 1838-1848 by William Ridgway of  Staffordshire England in a pattern known as “Tyrolean.”
in such great condition. The plates measures approx. 7  1/2" across. The scene is a nice romantic scene with a beautiful scalloped edge border with no wear to the edge of the plate. The condition is very good  with no chips, cracks, wear or staining on the front of the plates. There is some lite fine crazing and lite staining on parts of the back of the plates, and a few very lite usage marks in the center of the plates when tilted and held to strong light. The glaze and colors are bright.
Please view pictures.
The pattern depicts a classic Alpine scene with two people on the edge of a lake with goats nearby and boats and a cathedral in the background and a floral / scroll border design with a scalloped edge.
It has an urn and anchor Hallmark with the pattern name and the Ridgway initials. Pieces in this pattern are very hard to find. Please feel free to ask questions.
